PassKey: passwordless sign-in

PassKeys let you sign in to LoginSign using your device (fingerprint, face, or PIN) instead of a password. They are more secure and easier to use once set up.

How it works

A PassKey is a cryptographic credential stored on your device (phone, tablet, or computer). When you sign in with PassKey, your device proves your identity to LoginSign without sending a password over the network. The key never leaves your device in a usable form, which reduces the risk of phishing and password theft.

How to set up a PassKey

1. Open your LoginSign Dashboard and go to the Security tab.
2. Open the PassKey card on the Security tab and use Add PassKey in the sidebar.
3. Your browser or device will prompt you to create a PassKey (e.g. using Touch ID, Face ID, or Windows Hello).
4. Follow the on-screen steps to complete registration. You may be asked to use your fingerprint, face, or device PIN.
5. Once created, you can use “Sign in with PassKey” on the LoginSign login page from that device.

What to keep in mind

• Device-bound: Each PassKey is tied to the device (and often the browser) where you created it. To use PassKey on another device, add a new PassKey from that device.
• Backup: Many platforms (e.g. Apple, Google) can sync PassKeys across your own devices. Check your device or browser settings for PassKey backup and sync.
• At least one other login: Keep at least one other sign-in method (e.g. email or a social provider) so you can still access your account if you lose the device.
• Removing a PassKey: You can remove a PassKey from the Security tab. This only removes it for LoginSign; it does not delete the key from your device.

Security benefits

PassKeys are resistant to phishing (sites cannot steal them), and they are not reused across services. Even if another service is compromised, your LoginSign PassKey remains safe. Using a PassKey in addition to (or instead of) a password strengthens your account security.
